Triads consist of three notes stacked in thirds. A minor third above a major third results in a major triad, a major third above a minor third results in a minor triad, two minor thirds above each other result in a diminished triad and two major thirds above each other result in an augmented triad.

The next exercises will show you how to practice the triads on your instrument. Then we will examine in which harmonic contexts they can be applied and how to use them in an improvisation.
